Priebus: Obama ‘has been lying’
Reince Priebus says President Obama “has been lying to the American people.”
“The American people are seeing Barack Obama for what he is. He says one thing and does another. He’s been lying to the American people,” he said in interview on Fox News’s “Hannity” show Thursday night.
Priebus serves as chairman of the Republican National Committee.
{mosads}One lie, he said, is the reversal the White House made to the story about Obama meeting his uncle. Spokesman Jay Carney confirmed Thursday Obama had met Onyango Obama during a brief stay with him when the president attended Harvard University.
In 2011, officials told the Boston Globe Obama had never met his uncle, who at the time, had been arrested for drunk driving. Carney, however, clarified that account was based on records including the president’s memoir, but didn’t come directly from Obama himself. The uncle was granted legal residency in Boston this week.
“These little lies, like, you know, lying about whether you met someone or not that’s been significant in your life—listen, those are big things because it goes to the character of the person that you’re dealing with. And President Obama is proving himself not to be trustworthy on the small things and now the very big things,” he added.
