Several Democratic lawmakers are calling on President Obama to get Congressional authorization to expand the U.S. military mission in Iraq and Syria.
Democratic Reps. Alan Grayson (Fla.), Charlie Rangel (N.Y.) and Jose Serrano (N.Y.) believe additional action directed at routing the Islamic militant group ISIS should be approved by Congress.
{mosads}“That is an act of war. Under the War Powers Act, if it continues beyond an emergency period then the president needs to come to Congress for authorization. I think we are already beyond what anybody would call an emergency period,” Grayson contends.
Obama told congressional leaders on Tuesday that he does not need legislative green-light to route ISIS.
Obama will address the nation Wednesday night.
