Two victories stick out for House GOP campaign chief

Republicans won victory after victory in Tuesday’s midterm elections, but a couple of House races stood out for House GOP campaign chief Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.).

In an exclusive video interview with The Hill, Walden explained that only seven districts held by Democrats have X’s on his wall. They represent districts that have been GOP targets cycle after cycle.

{mosads}On Tuesday, Republicans finally won a couple of them.

“We have defeated [Rep.] Nick Rahall [W.Va.], we have defeated [Rep.] John Barrow [Ga.] — seats that had legislators in them who had withstood every other test of time, every other wave, every other tsunami, went down tonight,” Walden said in comments just before midnight.

Rahall had served in the House for more than 35 years, while Barrow has repeatedly defeated Republican challengers despite his southern, rural district in Georgia.
