Lawmakers: Declassify rest of 9/11 report

A bipartisan group of lawmakers is ratcheting up a campaign calling for President Obama to declassify 28 pages of a 2002 congressional report on the 9/11 attacks.

{mosads}”What we’re trying to do is to put the pressure on the White House by building the number of cosponsors in the House,” Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.) said late Thursday in an interview with The Hill. “I have reached out to several senators, I am hoping to talk to Sen. Rand Paul today to put in the same resolution in the Senate.”

Reps. Stephen Lynch (D-Mass.), Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Jones have spear-headed the effort to pass a resolution calling on Obama to reverse a George W. Bush administration determination to classify the pages.

To date, 11 lawmakers — including eight Democrats — have co-sponsored Jones’s resolution.
