Defense Secretary Ashton Carter mistaken for Kutcher
New Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter says Joints Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey once mistook him for a similarly named TV star.
{mosads}Carter spoke at the Pentagon on Thursday, two days after he was sworn in as Defense secretary in a ceremony at the White House.
“The last time I was in this auditorium, I was departing, I thought for the last time,” Carter, 60, said before quipping, “And Marty Dempsey mistook me briefly for Ashton Kutcher.”
While the bespectacled Carter is a Rhodes scholar and a former deputy secretary of Defense, 37-year-old Kutcher is an ex-model who stars in CBS’s “Two and a Half Men.” He’s also known for his roles in “That ’70s Show” and the 2000 film “Dude, Where’s my Car?”
