GOP rep wants party to fight Obama’s immigration order
Conservative Rep. Jeff Duncan tells The Hill that he’s unsure whether he will support a “clean” temporary funding extension for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) without language blocking President Obama’s executive order on immigration.
{mosads}”I don’t necessarily want to vote for a clean CR [continuing resolution] — on DHS funding … I’m not a ‘fear-mongerer’ about DHS funding at this point. But all I want to see is us continue to stand strong and fight this president on executive amnesty,” the South Carolina Republican said in an on-camera interview late Thursday afternoon.
Duncan, one of several Republicans who opposed Rep. John Boehner for Speaker, says that he is unaware of an effort to oust the Ohio Republican from the Speakership should GOP leaders hold a vote on a funding bill that would allow implementation of Obama’s executive actions.
Take a look at his comments on the funding standoff.
