‘Scandal’ first lady snaps selfie with Michelle Obama
Can one snapshot have too many first ladies? Actress Bellamy Young, who plays the president’s wife on ABC’s “Scandal,” and Michelle Obama posed together in a new photo with Ellen DeGeneres.
{mosads}Obama and Young both appeared on DeGeneres’s daytime talk show in an episode airing Monday. Calling the selfie “surreal,” Young suggested to DeGeneres that her second face-to-face with Obama went a bit smoother than the first time around, when the first lady wanted her to dish on plot points.
“We met one other time, I met her last year around this time at the White House correspondents’ dinner,” Young said. “The first thing she said to me was as we were walking onto the dance, she says, ‘Why did you kill your son?’”
“And I got really nervous, and I was like, ‘Oh, ee,’ and I couldn’t really get any words out.”
Young, who was joined at last year’s Correspondents’ Association dinner by her television husband, Tony Goldwyn, also revealed how President Obama greeted the fictional commander in chief.
“Our sweet president said to Tony, ‘Mr. President? Mr. President.’ Like that’s how. And then the moment was over.”
