Dem strategist: Clinton needs a primary challenge
A Democratic strategist tells The Hill a primary challenge could help likely Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton be sharp and ready for the general election.
{mosads}”There’s a part of me that thinks that it would be good for the process to have her really hustling on the campaign trail, debating some potential opponents, but the fact of the matter there really is nobody quite of her stature,” veteran operative Jim Manley said in a one-on-one interview.
The 21-year Democratic congressional aide doubts any of the Democrats mentioned as presidential hopefuls will challenge Clinton in the primaries.
“I have a lot of respect for a lot of these guys including Sen. [Bernie] Sanders [I-Vt.], but based on what I’ve seen so far, I really don’t think they have a chance against her either in the primary,” Manley said.
