GOP strategist: Primary will resemble NASCAR race
A veteran GOP strategist predicts that Republican presidential hopefuls will exchange the lead like NASCAR drivers at the Daytona 500.
Republican political operative Ron Bonjean singled out three contenders, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), as candidates to keep an eye on.
{mosads}But he suggested all three are likely to spend time at the front of the race.
“We have Jeb Bush, Scott Walker and Rand Paul — in terms of polling, those are the top three,” he said.
“This is like the Daytona 500 where you’re going to have one car in the pole position first and then it’s going to be replaced by a car lap after lap after lap … we’re not going to know for sure who’s going to win until the last probably five to 10 laps,” Bonjean tells The Hill in a video interview.
