Democrat wants red cards on the House floor
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), a soccer goalie in college, says red cards should be used to call penalties on the House floor.
{mosads}“We should have red cards on the floor. Can you imagine if the Speaker could just throw a red card and say, ‘Sir, ma’am you’re out of order, go sit this one out for the rest of the vote series?’” Swalwell joked in an interview with The Hill.
The 34-year-old lawmaker showed off his soccer moves to The Hill, demonstrating how to “goal check” during the on-camera interview at RFK Stadium.
Swalwell was a goalie for Campbell University in North Carolina.
