Keegan-Michael Key is a joke-telling pro, but the Comedy Central star says President Obama is the one who dished out advice ahead of their White House Correspondents’ Association dinner bit together.
“He just told me, whatever you do, just don’t break up out there,” the “Key and Peele” star — who appeared in his recurring role as the commander in chief’s “anger translator” at the correspondents’ dinner last month in Washington, told TMZ.com on Sunday.
{mosads}Key revealed that the pair only had 10 minutes of rehearsal time and that the White House penned the wisecracks for the well-received sketch.
When asked if Obama should try his hand at acting after leaving the White House, Key replied, “I think he should. I think he could make a run at Denzel’s spot,” referring to Oscar winner Denzel Washington.
But Key suggested with a smile that Obama might need to first bulk up before becoming Hollywood’s next action star, saying the president should, “Put on a few more pounds, because he’s kind of thin.”
