Clinton ‘prepared’ to deal with email controversy on campaign trail, Bayh says
Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton is “prepared” to deal on the campaign trail with the controversy surrounding her use of a private email account, according to a former senator who recently spent time with the former secretary of State.
“I think she knew that all the personal attacks about emails or Benghazi or the (Clinton) Foundation – I think she knew all that was coming … I think she knows it was expected and she’s prepared to deal with it,” Evan Bayh, a former two-term Democratic senator from Indiana, said in an interview with The Hill’s Molly Hooper.
{mosads}Bayh, who publicly endorsed Clinton’s presidential bid at the end of April, was mentioned as a possible Clinton running mate eight years ago.
Asked if he would say “yes” to being Clinton’s running mate should she win the 2016 Democratic nomination, the former Indiana governor paused before saying, “of course.” He added, however, that he’s not “sitting by the phone waiting for that phone call.”
