Pro-Hillary quartet sings ‘Chelsea’s Mom’ parody
Add “Chelsea’s Mom” to the growing number of songs supporting Hillary Clinton’s 2016 White House bid.
A music video for the tune by the singing string quartet Well-Strung was released Thursday on YouTube. The song is a play on the Grammy-nominated 2003 hit “Stacy’s Mom,” by the New Jersey rock band Fountains of Wayne.
The music video depicts a faux call center for the Democratic presidential candidate, with the chorus heaping praise on Clinton, mom to 35-year-old daughter, Chelsea:
{mosads}“Chelsea’s mom has got it goin’ on.
She’s all we want and we waited so long.
From sea to shining sea, she’ll fight for liberty.
She’s sexy and she’s strong,
I’m gonna vote for Chelsea’s mom.”
Other lines from the song criticize some Republican White House hopefuls, including Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas):
“Why should we put up with zealots like Ted Cruz?
Anyone but Clinton would give us the blues.”
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush also gets zinged:
“Jeb Bush, can’t you see?
You’re just not Hillary.”
The track isn’t the only song devoted to Clinton’s 2016 campaign.
Last year, a super-PAC released the pro-Clinton country ballad, “Stand With Hillary.” Pop star Katy Perry has also offered to pen a musical tribute to Clinton, posting on Instagram in 2014, “I told Hillary Clinton that I would write her a ‘theme’ song if she needs it…”
Other candidates have also gotten some support through song. A hip-hop single released last month called “Set it on Fire” urged listeners to choose Cruz as president.
