LIVE: Obama announces Cuba embassy opening
The United States and Cuba have reached an agreement to open embassies in Washington and Havana, a senior administration official said Tuesday, as part of the process to reestablish full diplomatic ties.
President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry will speak Wednesday morning about the plan to open the embassies later this month.
The two nations have been working to bridge economic and diplomatic gaps after decades of Cold War hostility.
