Clinton, Sanders could have awkward meeting

Hillary Clinton should prepare for some awkward moments when she visits Capitol Hill on Tuesday for meetings with House and Senate Democrats — and possibly rival Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

Former Senate Democratic aide Jim Manley notes that Clinton and Sanders, who are vying for the Democratic presidential nomination, could end up together at the weekly Senate Democratic lunch, where Clinton is expected to visit her former colleagues.

{mosads}Manley predicted Sanders will be in the worse position.

“I’m sure it’s gonna be pretty awkward, but it is what it is,” he said. “Just imagine Senator Clinton walking down the hallway to the LBJ room, surrounded by her entourage, surrounded by the Secret Service, with reporters shouting out questions to her as she’s walking into the LBJ room for the caucus.”

“She’s going to walk in there to a rock star reception, and there I assume is going to be poor Senator Sanders. So, I feel a little bit bad for the guy,” Manley, a Democratic strategist at QGA Public Affairs, tells The Hill’s Molly K. Hooper.
