GOP rep: Leadership “interested” in pot research bill

The GOP co-sponsor of a measure to make it easier for researchers to study the medical use of marijuana tells The Hill that House leaders are “very interested” in the research.

Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.), a medical doctor opposed to recreational pot use, and Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) intend to introduce their bill to ease restrictions on medical studies of the drug.

{mosads}”(House GOP leaders) are very interested, we discussed (it) at the GOP conference. The Speaker expressed interest after to me — after I brought the issue up, the leader expressed interest. There’s no one in Congress who doesn’t want to help people who are sick. No one,” Harris said in a recent interview with The Hill’s Molly K. Hooper.
