Cast of ‘Empire’ endorses Clinton

The cast of “Empire” is throwing its support behind Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

Some of the Fox show’s biggest stars, including Taraji P. Henson, Gabourey Sidibe, Jussie Smollett and Grace Byers, appear in a new ad called “What Would You Say?” released Wednesday night by Clinton’s campaign.

{mosads}“What will I tell my son? What will you tell your daughter? What will we tell the future generation?” Henson says directly to the camera in the spot, directed by Lee Daniels.

“The violence and nasty rhetoric against mankind is unacceptable. If [Republican presidential nominee Donald] Trump gets into office, it’ll only get worse,” some of the cast members say.

“There’s only one person in this race who said black lives matter,” Bryshere Gray, who plays Hakeem Lyon on “Empire,” says.

“I’m Taraji P. Henson,” the show’s Cookie Lyon tells the camera, “and I’m voting for Hillary.”

Academy Award nominee Terrence Howard, who plays “Empire” patriarch Lucious Lyon, does not appear in the video.

The ad, Clinton’s campaign said in a statement, highlights “what’s at stake for the African-American community in this election” and reminds “voters of the power that rests in their vote.”

Daniels, who is “Empire’s” executive producer and director, also appeared onstage at the Democratic National Convention in July in support of Clinton.
