WATCH: Social media beats steak dinners as lobbying tool

Wining and dining lawmakers on behalf of clients doesn’t work in the age of social media, Capitol Hill veteran John Feehery says.

Social media is the way to get a message out and to mobilize people to take action, Feehery said.

“The other way of lobbying: You go get big steak dinners with a member of Congress, give them plenty of campaign money, they kind of do what you ask them to do … that doesn’t work anymore,” Feehery, a contributor for The Hill, says in an interview with The Hill’s Molly K. Hooper.

Feehery just opened EFB Advocacy with partners John Easton and Adam Belmar.
