The Jan. 6 attack: Reporting, and running from terror
One year after the deadly mob attack on the U.S. Capitol, six reporters for The Hill assigned with covering Congress and the congressional certification of the 2020 election, recall the violent effort by supporters of former President Trump to halt that process and overturn the results.
The insurrection did not succeed on Jan. 6, 2021, but the effects of those unfolding events and Trump’s claims the election was stolen from him are still issues those on Capitol Hill grapple with today.
The Hill’s Niall Stannage, Jordain Carney, Scott Wong, Alexander Bolton and Mike Lillis and former reporter Juliegrace Brufke (now with the NY Post) shared stories of their experiences and analysis of that day’s legacy.
