Bipartisan bills setting rules for driverless cars are likely to be introduced in Congress as soon as this summer.
{mosads}Lawmakers supporting the legislation think driverless cars could ultimately make U.S. roads a safer place to drive.
“We lose 30 to 40 thousand lives on highways each year, 4.6 million people injured every year. Someday generations will look back and say ‘What a bunch of barbarians, you tried to drive yourselves? How did you text?’” said Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.), the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
