Lawmaker: We’ll tackle tax reform if we win Senate
Sen. Dan Coats (R-Ind.) says tax reform will rank “very, very high” on the GOP’s agenda if his party regains control of the upper chamber in November.
{mosads}Indiana Sen. Dan Coats (R) said tax reform is a bipartisan issue, noting his work with Sen. Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) on “comprehensive tax reform [that is] critical for economic growth.”
Coats, the most senior Republican senator on the bicameral Joint Economic Committee, concedes that it has been difficult to work with the White House on any issue, asserting that President Obama is “running a one-man band.”
But should the Republicans pick up the six seats needed to regain the majority in the Senate, Coats believes Obama might work better with the GOP.
