New York prosecutor to seek Weinstein indictment: report

Cyrus Vance Jr., the district attorney in Manhattan, will pursue an indictment against disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein next week, The New York Post’s Page Six reported Tuesday.

Sources who spoke to the newspaper said the prosecutor intends to first present the case in front of a grand jury.

News of the impending indictment comes after numerous women accused Weinstein of sexual harassment and assault in past several weeks, following bombshell reports from The New York Times and The New Yorker detailing decades of abuse.

Weinstein has been fired from his film company, kicked out of the Producers Guild and separated from his wife since the news first broke in early October.

The New York Police Department said Friday that it has a credible rape allegation against the Oscar winner. 

Investigators have reportedly corroborated parts of actress Paz de la Huerta’s claims that Weinstein twice raped her in her apartment in 2010, officials said, and were continuing to gather evidence.

Her claims could mark the first officially-corroborated account of his alleged misconduct among the dozens of women who’ve come forward.

The Beverly Hills Police Department has reportedly opened its own investigation of Weinstein, who checked into an Arizona rehabilitation facility last month, TMZ reported at the time.

The allegations made against Weinstein, a prominent Democratic mega-donor, pushed lawmakers to pledge to donate funds they received from the producer.
