Swiss officials arrest two Syrians with suspected terror ties: report
Swiss officials on Saturday arrested two men of Syrian origin suspected of “making, concealing and transporting explosives and toxic gas,” according to BBC, citing the Swiss attorney general.
The two are also suspected of violating a law barring groups like al-Qaeda and the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) from Switzerland, the attorney general told BBC.
{mosads}The arrests come after a week of tension in Geneva. Swiss President Simonetta Sommaruga on Friday said a “foreign authority” gave the country information about a possible ISIS cell in the near city, but not of a planned attack.
Swiss media later reported that the tip came from the United States, which also identified cells in Chicago and Toronto.
