Biden surprises anti-gun violence rally in Delaware

Former Vice President Joe Biden surprised protesters in his home state of Delaware during Saturday’s nationwide protests against gun violence, according to USA Today.

“Folks, too many people are dying,” Biden said in Wilmington. “Too many children are being hurt. But here’s the deal, you guys, you talk about how you’re going to change things. You are going to change things.”

Biden praised the student survivors from the Parkland, Fla., school shooting who have sparked nationwide protests and calls for action.

“What’s happening now is you’re ripping the Band-Aid off,” Biden said. “You’re forcing people to look squarely in the eye what they don’t want to face.”

“Don’t stop,” Biden told the crowd. {mosads}

“Folks, don’t kid yourselves,” Biden said. “This is about money. This is about greed. This is about the manufacturers. This is about you putting an end to it.”

The day before the march, Biden said he was confident that Parkland students are “going to win” their fight for gun control.

“They’re going to win,” Biden said on Friday. “Watch. … We can beat the NRA.”

Biden skipped the formal “March For Our Lives” gathering in Washington, D.C., where organizers say as many as 800,000 people are protesting.
