White House officially ‘pinning’ on Pinterest
{mosads}The White House joined the virtual pin-board service on Dec. 8, and switched user names from WhiteHouse44 to WhiteHouse before starting to “pin” images on its boards. Both President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama had Pinterest pages
through the campaign, but both have been dormant since last month.
The White House now has five boards, or collections of thematic images, titled “The people’s pins,” “Events and holidays,” “The first lady,” “Inspiring” and “1600.”
The “people’s pins” board includes images taken during the “Holiday social” hosted at the White House on Monday for a few of their new Pinterest fans. Attendees, who were selected from Pinterest users that commented on the White House’s new page the day it was announced, enjoyed crafts and refreshments as well as a tour of the White House.
The Obama family’s dog, Bo, is a major theme of the White House’s Christmas décor, and he was also highlighted in the Pinterest-ready craft projects at the social, according to images shared by Pinterest users who attended the event. Crafts included making Bo-shaped snowflakes and cookie cutouts.
The only Pinterest users the White House is following so far are the official boards for the U.S. Army and National Guard.
