A New York City police officer leaped into action on Wednesday after a man fell onto subway tracks in the Bronx shortly before a train pulled into the station.
Dramatic video footage posted by the NYPD shows the officer and another passenger hop onto the tracks and pull the 60-year-old man to safety. The heroic officer said the man from Queens was “completely out of it” during the rescue, according to The New York Post.
“When a sick strap hanger lost consciousness and fell on the subway tracks in the Bronx, @nypdtransitbureau officers didn’t hesitate for a moment to put his safety ahead of their own. We’re also grateful to the Good Samaritan who courageously helped,” the NYPD wrote in an Instagram post Thursday.

Authorities told the NY Post the man became dizzy before falling on the tracks and was taken to Lincoln Hospital after the incident where he was described as alert.
“We just did what we were there to do, which is to help and serve the public,” Transit District 12 officer Ludin Lopez told NY Post. “We were doing a station inspection. It was just right place right time.”
“It just made me feel like this is what I came here to do and I felt very fulfilled by that,” he concluded.
