Ed Sheeran catches COVID-19 just before new album release, SNL appearance

Ed Sheeran has contracted the coronavirus.

“Hey guys. Quick note to tell you that I’ve sadly tested positive for Covid, so I’m now self-isolating and following government guidelines,” Sheeran wrote on Instagram.

The British singer’s diagnosis comes only days prior to the Friday release of his new album “=” and being slated as the musical guest for “Saturday Night Live.”

“I’m now unable to plough ahead with any in person commitments for now, so I’ll be doing as many of my planned interviews/performances I can from my house,” Sheeran wrote. “Apologies to anyone I’ve let down. Be safe everyone x.”

It is unclear if his “Saturday Night Live” performance will also be done virtually from his home at this time.
