Trump tweets: ‘Chicago needs help’

President Trump on Thursday reiterated his criticism of the rising crime rate in Chicago, saying the city “needs help.”

“What is going on there – totally out of control,” Trump tweeted Thursday evening, mentioning shootings in the city.

Trump appeared to be weighing in on data analyzed by the Chicago Tribune and published earlier Thursday, which found that Chicago’s homicides are now outpacing 2016, the city’s deadliest year in two decades.

{mosads}That story noted that seven people were fatally shot on Wednesday, including five over the course of two hours.

Trump’s tweet Thursday echoed the sentiment he voiced last month when he threatened to send in federal authorities if Chicago didn’t “fix” the situation.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives signaled after that it would send approximately 20 more agents to help the city deal with the violence.
