Haley targets Trump in new South Carolina ads

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley is targeting former President Trump in new ads focused on her home state of South Carolina after coming in as runner-up in Tuesday night’s New Hampshire primary.

One ad pitches President Biden as “too old” and Trump as “too much chaos,” stressing that “no one wants” a rematch between the two presidential front-runners in their respective parties.

“There’s a better choice for a better America. Her story started right here, America’s youngest governor, a conservative Republican,” the ad says.

Another clip focuses on Haley’s record as governor of the Palmetto State. The $4 million ad buy will air statewide, according to Haley’s campaign.

After coming in second, roughly 11 points behind Trump, in New Hampshire on Tuesday, Haley promised “this race is far from over” and pointed toward South Carolina’s Feb. 24 primary and Super Tuesday in March.

Haley is now in a one-on-one contest with Trump after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and other candidates dropped out of the race.

Haley’s under pressure to build her momentum as Trump continues to lead by double-digits in national polling.

“Nikki Haley took on the political elites when she ran for governor of South Carolina, and she’s ready to do the same thing again,” said Haley campaign spokesperson Olivia Perez-Cubas in a release.

“South Carolina voters elected Nikki twice thanks to her conservative record of creating jobs, cutting taxes, and combating illegal immigration. They know that Nikki will always fight for them—not the D.C. establishment.”
