Biden wins Oregon Democratic primary

President Biden was projected to win Oregon’s Democratic presidential primary, according to Decision Desk HQ. 

Biden is already the Democrats’ presumptive nominee, but the Beaver State could add as many 66 more delegates into his column as he heads toward a rematch with former President Trump.

Across the aisle, Trump is expected to win Oregon’s Republican primary — but he’ll likely have a tougher time against Biden in the general. Oregon has voted blue in every presidential election since the mid 1980s, and its eight electoral college votes are considered solidly Democrat. 

Also on Oregon’s Tuesday ballot: the district attorney in Multnomah County, and two key House races. 

In the state’s Third congressional district, Susheela Jayapal, the sister of U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wa.) is vying to succeed retiring Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.). And national party leaders have their eye on the race in Oregon’s Fifth, where two Democrats are battling to take on the Republican incumbent who flipped the seat in the midterms.
