When is Trump announcing his running mate?

Former President Trump is expected to end months of speculation and announce his running mate in mere hours, as the Republican National Convention kicks off in Milwaukee.

Trump told Fox News’s Bret Baier that he plans to make the big reveal in Wisconsin on Monday.

Trump’s “veepstakes” have focused in recent weeks on three prominent Republicans: Ohio Sen. JD Vance, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.

The second-in-command for Trump’s first term, former Vice President Mike Pence, ran against him this cycle and has said he won’t endorse his ex-boss.

The debut of Trump’s new running mate will be one of the most closely watched moments of the Republicans’ four-day convention, and the VP pick is set to speak on Wednesday evening.

The announcement comes just days after an attempted assassination against Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday night.

The incident, which the FBI is investigating as a potential domestic terrorist act, has already emerged as a rallying point for Republicans around the former president, and Trump’s potential VP picks have closed ranks around him.

Trump arrived Sunday in Milwaukee, where thousands of Republicans are gathered for their quadrennial convention.

Trump aides have suggested he could make an appearance Monday evening, and he’s also expected to address Republicans on Thursday, at the end of the event.
