Trump Jr. defends Kanye West for wearing MAGA hat on ‘Saturday Night Live’

Donald Trump Jr. defended Kanye West over the weekend after the rapper said he was bullied backstage at “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) for wearing a “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) hat on air.

“Is anyone even a little bit shocked that @kanyewest was bullied backstage for wanting to wear a #maga hat on SNL?” the president’s eldest son wrote Sunday on Twitter. “Despite the BS they preach, the left isn’t tolerant of any view that differs even slightly from their own.”

“You obey or you’re out.”

West went on a pro-Trump rant on SNL while wearing a MAGA hat. During his remarks he criticized the media for having what he said was a largely liberal bent.

{mosads}”We need to have a dialogue not a diatribe,” West said. “Ninety percent of news are liberal — 90 percent of TV, L.A., New York, writers, rappers, musicians — so it’s easy to make it seem like it’s so, so, so one-sided.”

“They bullied me backstage,” he said. “They said ‘don’t go out there with that hat on.’ “

“I’mma put my Superman cape on, cuz this means you can’t tell me what to do,” West added.

Trump Jr. retweeted an editorial from Investor Business Daily that praised West’s speech, saying, “Whether you agree or disagree with Kanye West’s pro-Trump rant on #SNL, it took more guts to do that than any trite anti-Trump rant from Robert DeNiro, Jimmy Kimmel or Matt Damon.”

“True story,” Trump Jr. added. “There’s no risk or penalty for following the Hollywood sheeple and ranting against Trump.”

The president also knocked SNL, calling it “just a political ad for the Dems.”

“Word is that Kanye West, who put on a MAGA hat after the show (Despite being told ‘no’), was great,” Trump tweeted. “He’s leading the charge!”

Others criticized West’s remarks.

CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota asked Monday if it’s “time to start worrying” about West, while singer Lana Del Rey called West’s support for Trump “a loss for the culture.”
