Newark airport reopens after shutdown over ’emergency’
Newark Liberty International Airport reopened Saturday morning after it briefly grounded all flights over an unspecified emergency.
The airport tweeted at just before 9 a.m. that there would be no flights going into or out of the airport “due to an airport emergency.”
Due to an airport emergency there are currently no arrivals nor departures from Newark Airport.Please check with your carrier before coming to the airport [30]

It later announced just after 9:30 a.m. that the airport was reopened and that passengers should “expect delays.”

The airport did not immediately provide details on the emergency and was not immediately available to respond to The Hill’s request for comment.{mosads}
Newark Liberty International clarified that an emergency landing of a United Airlines flight “forced brief suspension of flights in and out of the airport.”

United later announced that it was offering a travel waiver for passengers flying into Newark on Saturday and Sunday “due to runway conditions.”

Flights were temporarily halted at the airport earlier this month after a plane skidded off the runway when its left main landing gear got stuck in a grassy area.
