The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a man who was injured from a bear attack near Nome, Alaska, on July 16.
A Coast Guard aircrew was flying over from Kotzebue to Nome when they spotted an SOS on the roof of a shack near an old mining camp. When the helicopter circled back, a man was outside of the shack waving his arms, according to Alaska Public Media.

The unidentified man reportedly told the aircrew that he had been attacked by a bear a week prior, and it had been stalking him ever since. His friends had reported him missing when he didn’t return to Nome on time.
The man was suffering from a leg injury and bruising on his chest. The Coast Guard transported him back to Nome where he received medical attention
